Social Responsibility

Dussmann Service follows the principles of corporate social responsibility and has always promoted respect of social and ethical issues within the company. Dussmann Service was awarded the SA8000 certificate in 2007.

 

 

SA8000 certification

SA8000 is a global social accountability standard for good working conditions, developed and overseen by Social Accountability International (SAI). Detailed guidance for implementing or auditing SA8000 is available on its website. SAI offers training in SA8000 and other workplace standards to managers, workers and auditors. A global accreditation agency, Social Accountability Accreditation Services (SAAS) licences and oversees auditing organisations awarding certification to employers that comply with SA8000.

Steps to certification

Dussmann Service has always been committed to the principles of social responsibility. In December 2007 Dussmann Service was subject to review by the Certification Committee CI.SE., who awarded SA8000 certification. With effect from 11 December 2007, the company is certified for the system of social responsibility according to SA8000: 2001.

Dussmann Service guarantees that its services are supplied:

  • without use of child or forced labor;
  • maintaining healthy and safe work conditions; 
  • ensuring freedom of association; 
  • under exclusion of discriminatory practices
  • deploying fair work schedules and remuneration, respecting employment contracts and company policies; 
  • ensuring that partners/suppliers meet the requirements of the standard SA 8000

 

In 2002 the company adopted a "Code of Ethics" which applies to associates of Dussmann Service, in particular:

  • employees;
  • business partners;
  • consultants and external specialists;
  • goods and services suppliers;
  • public and private clients;
  • anyone acting on behalf of the Company.

Certification according to SA8000 is a starting point for all stakeholders to become personally involved in achieving accountability and transparency of business activities in order to comply with legislation and the improve society through the their contribution and daily work.

The most important motivation for obtaining this certification is:

  • to preserve credibility, transparency and the corporate image;
  • to gain the confidence of consumers and social organizations;
  • to improve relations with institutions;
  • to ensure ethical behavior and social fairness of suppliers and subcontractors;
  • to improve the business climate.


The company's commitment to promote internally and externally the principles of social responsibility is based on the principles ot the SA 8000:2001:

  • Child labor: the company does not admit the use of child and youth labor;
  • forced labor: all the company employees give their work voluntarily;
  • Health & Safety: Is there a corporate structure dedicated to health and safety at work, which operates throughout the national territory, in order to reduce the risk of workers and accident prevention;
  • Freedom of association and right to collective bargaining and respect freedom of association of each employee to form or join trade unions of their choice and collective bargaining;
  • Discrimination: equal opportunities are guaranteed for people working in the company and is not allowed any kind of discrimination;
  • Disciplinary procedures: disciplinary sanctions are applied according to the national contract of the business units;
  • Working hours: considering that in the company's business areas over 90% of employees work with part-time contracts, the overtime work is requested and made only in case of special needs;
  • Salary: Each employee receives a salary according to national and regional agreements and on agreements made by the Associations. The company applies its own incentive policy.
  • Management System: terms and indicators for the review of the system have been defined and are contained in report SA8000.

 

Report SA8000

Among the instruments of social accounting, the Budget SA8000 features offer clear and meaningful indicators of compliance, in the company management, to every single requirement of the standard SA8000, whose compliance is certified by a recognized third party.
